After more than three decades at Air Sciences, Dave Randall retired in early June. Dave was the company’s sixth employee, and his tenure featured many notable achievements.
These include:
- Managing long-term projects in the United States, Canada, and Chile
- This work involved supporting mining clients through all the baseline ambient monitoring, air quality impact assessment, emissions control, public disclosure, air permitting, and compliance requirements.
- Getting Air Sciences involved as a long-term member of the Western Regional Air Partnership (WRAP)
- As a WRAP member, Air Sciences has helped assess the role of wildland fire emissions on regional haze impacts in national parks and wilderness areas in the western United States.
- Supporting the integration of Geographic Information System (GIS) technology at Air Sciences
- GIS technology has had a major effect on how we organize, evaluate, interpret, and communicate air quality emissions and air quality dispersion modeling data.
- Fostering the culture of teamwork at Air Sciences
- For instance, Dave promoted creative open-design architecture for our offices and planned—and actively participated in—companywide events.
Dave said his fondest Air Sciences memory is traipsing through a particularly prickly part of the Sonoran Desert, near the edge of the Superstition Wilderness Area, with a mining client to choose sites for several baseline monitoring stations.
In retirement, Dave looks forward to spending time with his family and friends, golfing, downhill skiing, fly fishing, and getting back into coaching youth/high school baseball. He also plans to pursue opportunities to support entrepreneurial endeavors of different companies and organizations.
Thank you for 33 great years at Air Sciences, Dave!
